What is WAPELRA?
The Washington Public Employer Labor Relations Association (WAPELRA) is an organization of public sector labor relations and human resources professionals whose goal is to stay current on important issues and to provide an opportunity for exchange of ideas. WAPELRA is an affiliate of a national organization, the National Public Employee Labor Relations Association (NPELRA).
WAPELRA has nearly 300 active members, representing more than 140 public employers in Washington State (cities, counties, special purpose districts, and state agencies), as well as attorneys and labor relations consultants. Membership is limited to those within a jurisdiction who represent management.
WAPELRA holds three day-long meetings a year (usually in the Seattle area). These meetings typically include a morning and an afternoon topic, as well as a portion of the agenda devoted to the sharing of ideas. They also sponsor a special 2-day conference in the fall of each year, and periodically conduct additional training sessions.
Annual WAPELRA membership dues are $200. This includes an agency membership in WAPELRA and an individual membership in NPELRA. NPELRA members receive a monthly newsletter and have access to excellent resource materials. NPELRA holds a national conference each spring.
WAPELRA is a nonprofit organization governed by a 10-member board of directors elected by the membership.
