What You Need to Know Now
What You Can Do Now!
- Liability Expansion for Wrongful Injury or Death Causes of Action (3SHB 1873)
Contact your Representatives in opposition to 3SHB 1873, which is ready for floor action by the full House at any time. Tell them cities oppose 3SHB 1873’s expansion of the scope of individuals who could recover under wrongful death causes of action and the scope of recovery under those claims. If this bill cannot be defeated, at the very least, House members should support amendments to limit some of the bill's most significant problems. See the Law & Justice section.
- Fire District Commissioner Annexation Reform (SHB 2938)
In its current form, AWC strongly opposes this bill and encourages interested cities to contact your House members to express your opposition. See the Land Use & Housing Section.
Next Week
- Rep. Sommers will release her version of the State’s operating budget, HB 2687. The bill is scheduled for public hearing on Wednesday, February 20 in the House Committee on Appropriations at 3:30 pm, and executive session the next day. See the Municipal Finance section.
- Eluding a Police Vehicle (ESHB 1030)
ESHB 1030 is scheduled for a hearing in the Senate Judiciary Committee on Friday, February 22, at 1:30 pm. See the Law & Justice section.
Last Week
- Streamlined Sales Tax & Business Licenses (SHB 3126)
SHB 3126 passed the House unanimously on February 14. See the Municipal Finance section.
