Studying State Administration of City B&O Taxes (HB 2965)
On Friday, February 1, at 8 am, the House Finance Committee will hear HB 2965, which would require the Department of Revenue to complete a feasibility study for state administration and collection of city B&O taxes by December 1, 2008. Please see the Municipal Finance section of this Bulletin.
AWC has reached an agreement with proponents that eliminates the mandatory and regulatory approaches. SB 6469 is scheduled for a hearing in the Senate Committee on Natural Resource, Ocean & Recreation on Wednesday, January 30 at 8:00 am. HB 2468 is scheduled for a hearing in the House Committee on Appropriations on Monday, January 28 at 3:30 pm. For more information, see the Land Use & Housing section of this Bulletin.
Liability for Wrongful Injury or Death Causes of Action (ESHB 1873)
AWC will testify in opposition to the expanded liability in ESHB 1873 at the hearing in the House Judiciary Committee on Friday, February 1, at 8 am. See the Law & Justice section of this Bulletin. As you meet with your legislators during CLAC, please share your opposition to this bill due to its large fiscal impact.
Gang Task Force Recommendations – AWC Priority
SB 6608, the companion bill to HB 2712, with the task force recommendations will be heard in the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, January 30, at 3:30 pm. See the Law & Justice section of this Bulletin.
