Customized Bill Tracking – A Suggestion from AWC President Pam Carter

If there are a number of bills you are following this session, you might want to check out the Selected Bill Tracking feature on the Legislature’s website. You can create a customized list of the bills that interest you, and your list is automatically updated to show the current status of each bill. From the list, you can view all of the documents associated with each bill, including substitute versions, amendments, and bill reports that outline what each bill does.

To get started, go to http://apps.leg.wa.gov/billinfo and click on Bill Tracking, then on Register for a New Account. Choose your own user name and enter your e-mail address. Your password will be sent to you by e-mail. When you log in to the site, you will be prompted to change your password to something you can easily remember.

Once you’ve successfully logged in, click on Selected Bill Tracking. It’s very easy to create lists, add or delete bills from your list, or export the bill information into a spreadsheet or a Word document. Click on the Help button in the upper left corner of the page for an overview and detailed instructions on how to use the Bill Tracking feature.
