What you can do now
- Regulating house-banked social card games (SHB 2162) – AWC priority
This bill would allow cities to limit the number of house-banked social card games to those licensed locations as of the effective date of this legislation. The bill has passed out of the House Commerce and Labor Committee and has been sent to the Rules Committee which will decide if the bill will be placed on the floor calendar for action. AWC supports this bill and encourages impacted cities to contact their legislators seeking their support for the bill.
- Pet annexation (SHB 1831)
Over AWC’s objections, this bill keeps moving forward in the House and is one "pull" away from making it to the House floor for a vote. It would pre-empt any city in the affected counties from regulating the types of domestic pets and livestock on lands newly annexed and may include overriding restrictions placed on the types and numbers of so-called "dangerous dogs" allowed within any of these cities.
Action needed: Cities concerned with this pre-emption of local authority are urged to contact your House Members and express your opposition.
