What you can do now

  • Offender medical costs (HB 1780) – AWC Priority
    HB 1780
was heard on February 10. If you have a member on the House General Government Appropriations Committee, please contact them to express support for removal of the sunset provision to continue current practice that provides for responsibility for offender medical costs to the jurisdiction that initiates the charges. This simply continues long-standing practice that was brought into question with a 2005 Attorney General’s Opinion, prompting AWC to seek the change in law.
  • Street Utility (HB 1947) – AWC Priority
This legislation would be a local option for cities to form a street utility for the purpose of maintaining and preserving their streets.  Please contact your legislator on the House Transportation Committee in support of HB 1947.
