Residential Fire Sprinkler System Barriers List Released

In the 2008, the Legislature passed HB 2575 requiring the State Building Code Council to form an advisory committee to research issues, barriers, and incentives relating to residential fire sprinkler systems. A technical advisory group (TAG) was formed, monthly meetings were held, and now work is winding down for this interim. The TAG has released a draft list of barriers to requiring residential fire sprinkling systems in residential dwellings. Comments are being taken by the full State Building Code Council at both the September and October meetings. AWC will be reviewing the list and potentially providing comments. For further details about what is contained in the list, please contact Victoria Lincoln at victorial@awcnet.org.
