From the Director: Regional Meetings Underway

By Stan Finkelstein, AWC Executive Director

AWC held three Regional Meetings the week of September 17.

We appreciate the efforts of Chelan, Pullman and Richland officials for hosting our first meetings and look forward to seeing many of you during the following meetings:

  • September 25 – Port Angeles
  • September 26 – Spokane
  • October 2 – Bellingham
  • October 3 – DuPont
  • October 4 – Aberdeen
  • October 9 – Woodland
  • October 11 – Yakima
  • October 16 – SeaTac
  • October 18 – Lynnwood

These dinner meetings run from 6 to 8:30 pm. Meeting agendas are structured to provide city officials a brief background on state legislative issues and then to hear from you on the challenges you face.

Now is the perfect time to advance your local issues and concerns to the AWC staff as AWC’s Legislative Subcommittees continue to meet preparing issues for us to advance to the Legislature in 2008. Unlike recent years, we have invited legislators to these meetings and provided them time on the agenda to address you. Many legislators have already indicated they will be attending their local meeting. At least one legislator has indicated she will be attending more than one meeting in order to hear from as many city officials as possible.

If you have not already registered for your local meeting, please do so by the day of the meeting at www.awcnet.org/regionalmeetings.

I look forward to seeing you soon!
