AWC Federal Issues for Washington Cities & Towns

The Association of Washington Cities (AWC) works closely with our national affiliate, the National League of Cities (NLC), to track federal legislation that concerns cities.

Communicate City Issues to the Washington Congressional Delegation

Keep your congressional delegation informed of the issues in this Bulletin, as well as those federal issues of particular interest to your city.

If you are attending the NLC Congressional Conference in Washington, DC, March 11-15, 2006, please discuss these issues when you meet with your U.S. Senators and Representatives.

Meeting with the Congressional Delegation

AWC schedules meetings by district with the Congressional Delegation. These meetings are designed to address general issues that impact all cities.

Many times, individual cities also schedule their own meetings with the Congressional delegation to discuss specific issues. If your city is scheduling its own meeting, please be sure to do so in advance of your trip. NLC has suggested that attendees request meetings for anytime on Wednesday, March 15, during City Lobby Day. Check the conference schedule on the NLC website (www.nlc.org) to minimize conflicts.

Please contact DeAnn Hartman of AWC at deannh@awcnet.org to coordinate meetings with the delegation.
