Disaster Preparedness

Competitive Training Grants Program - U.S. Department of Homeland Security

Concept Paper Due: May 31, 2006
Applications Due: June 30, 2006

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has announced the availability of over $28 million in grant funds for its Homeland Competitive Training Grants Program. The program funds national preparedness training initiatives to prevent, protect against, respond to, and recover from incidents of terrorism or catastrophic events. Course materials and course offerings must be offered and accessible to responders throughout the nation.

Emergency Management Preparedness Assistance Grants -State Emergency Management Division

Applications Due: June 5, 2006

The Emergency Management Division was appropriated $1.6 million for local competitive grants for emergency management preparedness projects.

Eligible projects may include:

  • Development and coordination of emergency plans.
  • Training of public officials in disaster response.
  • Administration of joint emergency management training exercises.
  • Implementation of projects to strengthen emergency response, mitigation, preparedness and coordination.

Environment

Source Reduction Assistance Grants Program - U.S. Department of Environmental Protection

Applications Due: June 19, 2006

The Source Reduction Assistance Grants Program is designed to fund projects supporting source reduction/pollution prevention and/or resource conservation activities. Region 10 activities will focus on:

  • Facilitation and support of the network of pollution prevention technical assistance providers;
  • Environmentally preferable purchasing, including renewable energy certificate market development projects; and
  • Developing pollution prevention projects of interest to states, regions; and/or Federally-recognized tribal governments.

Historic Preservation

Conservation Projects Support Grants - Institute of Museum & Library Services

Applications Due: October 1, 2006

The Conservation Project Support Program awards matching grants to help museums identify conservation needs and priorities and perform activities to ensure the safekeeping of their collections. Grants are available for five broad types of conservation activities:

  1. surveys;
  2. training;
  3. research;
  4. treatment; and
  5. environmental improvements.

Social & Human Services

Work Incentives Planning & Assistance Projects - Social Security Administration

Applications Due: July 1, 2006

The Social Security Administration has released $20 million in grant funds for Work Incentives Planning & Assistance Projects. Projects will focus on the development of community-based work incentives planning and assistance programs for the purpose of disseminating accurate information to beneficiaries with disabilities on work incentives programs and issues related to such programs to assist them in their employment efforts.

Partners in Program Planning for Adolescent Health - U.S. Department of Health & Human Services

Applications Due: June 26, 2006

This Initiative contributes to the improvement of adolescent health, safety and well being by promoting a multidisciplinary, comprehensive adolescent health agenda among professionals who work with adolescents and their families. The Initiative includes two broad categories of program effort:

  1. Strengthening the capacity of national professional membership associations to address adolescent health comprehensively within their respective fields; and
  2. Enhancing the ability of grantee organizations to promote adolescent health at a national level.
