Equipment Grants for Fire Departments

The remaining deadlines for 2005 are September 30 and December 31
The mission of the GSK/Tums-First Responder Institute Challenge Grant Program is to assist fire departments-in-need secure essential equipment.

To qualify, the applying organization must be a bona fide fire department with 501(c)(3) status, show a legitimate need for the requested equipment, and a documented inability to purchase requested equipment because of funding shortfalls.

Support is primarily directed to rural departments that do not have a tax base for support. Larger municipalities will be considered, but smaller departments have precedence.

The organization must establish the ability to obtain additional funding to match or exceed the amount requested as a requirement of obtaining grant money.
