ALERT! ALERT! ALERT! TIME IS SHORT

Rural Community Assistance Grant - USDA Forest Service

Applications are due May 24, 2004

USDA Forest Service has approximately $250,000 to award in Washington State for FY 2004.  Projects need to be on the WACERT matrix or have county commissioner/tribal chair approval. (We apologize for the quick turnaround, but just found out the funds would be available).

Economic Recovery Programs provide technical and financial assistance to rural communities located in or near National Forests and Grasslands that have become economically dependent or disadvantaged due to public land management decisions. Grants are provided to eligible communities, counties, and tribes for development of strategic action plans and for funding projects contained in those plans. Grants are awarded on a competitive basis.

Contact: Sheila J. Walker, Grant Manager - USDA Forest Service at (360) 956-2298 or swalker@fs.fed.uswww.fs.fed.us/r6/coop. Or contact: Ron Saranich, Rural Community Assistance Program Manager at: rsaranich@fs.fed.us, or at (503) 808-2346
